Ceramic Resistor


Ceramic resistors can be of different shapes, sizes and powers. There are three most commonly used types of ceramic resistors:

  • Ceramic band resistors: This type of resistors are made by combining ceramic blocks with a metal band. It is attached to cylindrical surfaces. It is used in places such as ovens, heating tanks, extrusion machines.
  • Ceramic cartridge resistors: This type of resistors are made by placing a metal wire inside a ceramic tube. It is inserted into perforated surfaces. It is used in places such as molding, plastic injection, hot stamping.
  • Ceramic plate resistors: This type of resistors are made by winding a metal wire on a ceramic plate. It is adhered to flat surfaces. It is used in places such as laboratories, frying and heating tables.

Ceramic resistances are highly preferred in electrical heating systems. The advantages of ceramic resistors are:

  • High efficiency: Ceramic resistors convert most of the electricity into heat. This also saves energy.
  • Fast heating: Ceramic resistors can reach high temperatures in a short time. This shortens the heating time and improves work efficiency.
  • Low heat loss: Ceramic resistances distribute heat evenly and provide insulation. This reduces heat loss and improves heating quality.
  • Long life: Ceramic resistors are resistant to high temperatures, impacts and corrosion. This extends their life and reduces maintenance costs.
